How to Read a Battery Tender Voltage Meter (and Why a Blinking Red Light Is a Gift)

If your battery keeps dying, don't replace it first—put it on a Battery Tender and read the voltage meter. A battery tender voltage meter will tell you in the first few minutes whether you're dealing with a dead battery, a failed cell, or parasitic drain from something you've added to the vehicle. The counterintuitive part: a voltage meter is more useful than a modern vehicle's state-of-charge display. It shows what the battery can actually do, not just what the computer guesses.

I'd rather spend 10 minutes explaining all this than sell you a battery you don't need. An informed customer asks better questions and makes faster decisions. Sometimes the answer is a new battery. But it should be an answer, not a guess.
