The Preventive Buyer's Checklist: Battery Tenders, OBD2 Scanners, and the Chair Mat Everyone Forgets

A dead battery is the most predictable problem in this business. A car comes in for a repair, sits in the lot for four days, and won't start when it's time for the test drive. 4. Buy an Office Chair Mat for Uneven Floor Before It Becomes a Problem

The wobbly chairs also made the staff edgy, and "who gets the good chair" became a negotiation nobody should have to sit through.

What Still Goes Wrong (and How to Catch It)

A few mistakes I see other buyers repeat—and that I got burned by at least once:

  • Trusting "universal fit" on a chair mat. It's not universal. Measure the floor, check the caster diameter, and match the thickness to the surface.
  • Skipping the return-policy check. A good vendor stands behind the product. If the return process is unclear or hidden, that's a yellow flag.
